Looking for the great job that women make, month after month, by creating, managing and launching their ideas on the Web 2.0.

In 2009, I was surprised to read on a post by Jessica Livingston (here) that for 102 start-ups, only 7 were founded by a woman . . . All the more amazing that the women were already more numerous on Internet.

My frustration and my insatiable curiosity in information urged me to look farther. I thought (and still think) that it is not because a woman is not visible that she does not exist. Then the idea to list them appeared like 1 and 1 is 2, in order to demonstrate that they was much more female start-ups than questionings let believe.
By the way, the commentaries following Livingston’s post are very interesting too.

So, I began to create a French List – as I am living in France – which has quickly grown. In 2009 and 2010, and despite the happy appearance of women 2.0 (in 2006), I was still reading some questions here and there about the lack of female CEO in technologies or female founders. I was more than ever decided to prove the contrary: this list of international Female Start-ups (i-FeSt) is made for that.

I’d like to thank Pemo Theodore from ezebis, who supported my idea, as well as Angelika Blendstrup.
